The University of Lisbon Award, created with the support of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, distinguishes individuals of Portuguese or foreign nationality who have stood out for their relevant contribution to the progress of Science and/or Culture, as well as to the international projection of Portugal.

It is awarded annually by a jury chaired by the Rector of the University of Lisbon and has a total monetary value of €25,000.
