Catarina Botelho, PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, awards the ULisboa RedeSAÚDE Award 2025

On November 26, during the 9th RedeSAÚDE Conference, held under the theme “People and Planet: How the Environment Shapes Human Health,” Catarina Botelho was awarded first place in the ULisboa RedeSAÚDE Award 2025, in the category “Health Systems / Entrepreneurship / Digital Transition.” This initiative, promoted by the University of Lisbon, aims to recognise the work developed by master’s and PhD students in the field of health.

Catarina Botelho received the award for her doctoral thesis, “Speech as Biomarker for Multidisease Screening”, supervised by Isabel Trancoso, former faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and researcher at INESC-ID, Alberto Abad, and Tanja Schultz from the University of Bremen. Throughout her research, the alumna explored the potential use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to classify parameters such as language coherence, with the aim of contributing to the diagnosis of diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
