Isabel Ribeiro Elected Full Member of the 8th Section of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences

Isabel Ribeiro, former faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) and currently a researcher at the Institute for Systems and Robotics, has been elected Full Member of the 8th Section, Information Sciences and Technologies, of the Class of Sciences at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. This class encompasses the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth and Space Sciences, Biological, Medical and Health Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Information Sciences and Technologies, and Technologies, Knowledge and Society. The election ceremony took place on 2 July, during the Academy Day celebrations.

The Lisbon Academy of Sciences promotes research and the dissemination of scientific culture, education, and teaching in the fields of sciences and humanities. Full Members are responsible for directing the Academy's scientific, literary, and administrative activities, electing academic officers, presenting scholarly communications, reports, proposals, and recommendations, among other highly prestigious responsibilities.
