The students Diogo Costa, Hugo Varandas, Pasang Lama, Nuno Lourenço, Shahnewaj Shakil, and Tomás Teixeira received an Honourable Mention, awarded by Armilar Venture Partners, worth €1,000, at the final of the 8th edition of E.Awards@Técnico. The initiative promotes, recognises, and rewards entrepreneurship and innovation within curricular units related to these fields. The event took place on 24 June at the Técnico Innovation Center.

The team presented OPTICLIMB, a smart compression sleeve equipped with sensors designed to detect and quantify climbing performance, enabling the assessment of fatigue levels, the optimisation of training and recovery, and the reduction of injury risk. Nuno Lourenço, one of the team members, explained that the idea for the project stemmed from his passion for climbing. He is currently a member of the Portuguese national climbing team.

The jury included representatives from Técnico, Fundação Santander, Accenture, Armilar Venture Partners, and Unicorn Factory, and awards were presented in the categories of Best Project and Best Pitch.

The event also featured remarks by Pedro Amaral, Técnico's Vice-President for Corporate Affairs, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, who highlighted the School's vibrant culture of innovation.

Today is a day of celebration. E.Awards demonstrates that innovation is part of Técnico's DNA and that we have the ability to change the world through science and technology.
