On March 9, the Alumni Talks, a Women Edition session took place in the main hall of the Alameda campus. The event featured several Técnico alumnae, who shared insights into their career paths, their transition into the job market, and experiences with career changes. Key challenges faced as women in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) were also discussed.

The session included a talk by Carla Medeiros, who holds a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and is currently responsible for Components Maintenance Engineering and Quality at TAP Air Portugal, and by Mafalda Barbosa, a graduate of the same program and IT Director at MEO.

The event also featured the participation of Alexandre Bernardino, a faculty member at DEEC and president of Técnico’s Gender Balance group.

Initiatives like this are essential to raise awareness among our students that Técnico is a school that upholds the values of respect and inclusion for all people, while also helping to better prepare students to deal with these issues in the future.
