Electrical and Computer Engineering Days return to Técnico campus

Last week, the Alameda campus once again hosted the Electrical and Computer Engineering Days (JEEC 2026), an event organized by students of the program and aimed at the Técnico academic community. Over the course of three days, the central pavilion hosted several activities, including a career fair that featured various stands from companies, research centers, and student groups, as well as the exhibition of several prototypes.

The opening ceremony, which marked the beginning of JEEC 2026, included a brief speech by Maria Francisca Cabral, responsible for organizing the event, as well as remarks from Sérgio Pequito, Vice President for Research, Development and External Relations of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Rogério Colaço, President of Técnico. Maria Francisca Cabral began by thanking everyone involved in organizing the event, including the students and the companies present, highlighting the strong commitment between academia and industry. She also noted the return of the event to the Técnico campus, after previous editions had taken place at the Técnico Innovation Center, acknowledging that sometimes it is necessary to “take a step back” in order to contribute to a greater good.

Sérgio Pequito then emphasized the importance of the department maintaining strong connections with students, even after they complete their studies. The professor highlighted that alumni will always remain part of the Técnico family and expressed his hope that JEEC will continue for many years to come.

Rogério Colaço once again highlighted the role of these events in students’ lives, congratulating those responsible for organizing the initiative.

Throughout JEEC 2026, visitors had the opportunity to talk with the student groups that include Electrical and Computer Engineering students and learn about their respective prototypes: the NEEC Claw and NEECBot, two robots from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Student Group (NEEC); ATLAS, an aircraft, and Adamastor, a rocket, developed by the Aerospace Engineering Student Group (AeroTéc); the FST15, the latest Formula Student (FST) vehicle; the TLM03, a motorcycle from TLMoto; the GP50, a car created by the Projeto de Sustentabilidade Elétrica Móvel (PSEM); São Pedro, the autonomous boat from Técnico Solar Boat (TSB); and the TFC02, the second car from Técnico Fuel Cell (TFC). JUNITEC, Espaço ao Cubo, and the new Técnico student groups LISAT and ISTrain were also present at the event.

Meanwhile, in the Salão Nobre, participants were able to visit the job fair and interact with several companies from different sectors, such as REN, Neyond, and NOS, among many others. The space also hosted the ElectroLink initiative — personalized conversations in individual rooms with industry representatives — as well as other networking moments such as 15/15 and the Inside Talks, where companies were available to discuss their projects with groups of students.

During the event, several workshops also took place, covering topics such as optimizing résumés for ATS systems, building intelligent agents, creating a defense technology startup, opportunities, tools and the practical impact of AI-powered software engineering, application development, and the use of computer vision for rehabilitation in healthcare. These workshops were supported by ITRecruiter, IBM, Productize, Deloitte, TIMWETECH, and Axians, respectively.
