This initiative, promoted by the Pedagogical Council with the support of the Scientific Council and the Management Council, funds projects that contribute in innovative ways to teaching practices at Técnico.

This year, 38 proposals were submitted, of which 13 received funding, with the aim of improving students’ teaching and learning experiences.

The HERO project focuses on implementing, developing, and adapting experimental instruments such as spectrometers, wavelength meters, optical alignment systems, microscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other equipment, with the goal of enabling students to “build” rather than simply “use” these devices. Developed within a project-based learning framework, the project proposes an empirical pedagogical approach instead of relying on isolated, predefined exercises.

Meanwhile, the 5e-Rocket project offers students hands-on experience with aerospace systems of considerable complexity, both in laboratory settings and through real-time testing. The proposed configuration, which includes a set of autonomous platforms, has been widely used in space launch vehicles during both ascent and autonomous landing phases.
