The distinguished professors are Mário Figueiredo, a researcher at the Institute of Telecommunications, José Santos-Victor and André Martins, both researchers at the Institute for Systems and Robotics, and Leonel Sousa, Isabel Trancoso, and Bruno Martins, researchers at INESC-ID.

This ranking, developed by Research.com, is based on data related to the production of scientific articles. The data is collected annually from sources such as OpenAlex (an open academic database that gathers information on scientific publications, authors, institutions, journals, and citations) and CrossRef (responsible for the management and registration of Digital Object Identifiers - DOI).

A total of 279,971 scientist profiles were analysed, of which 50 were specifically selected for the field of Computer Science in Portugal.
