Escola Secundária D. Pedro V came to learn about Técnico Solar Boat prototypes
On January 15, we welcomed students from D. Pedro V Secondary School. The visit began with a presentation of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, delivered by Daniela Leonardo. The students were introduced to the department’s research areas and some of the projects developed by its faculty. Information was also provided about the degree programs, admission grade requirements, and available extracurricular activities.
Next, the students were introduced to the Técnico Solar Boat project and SocRob@Home.
Members of the Técnico Solar Boat team spoke about their vessels, such as S. Gabriel and S. Pedro (shown in the photo on the left). They also presented the competitions in which they participate and explained how the electronic systems of the projects are developed.
At the Institute for Systems and Robotics, the students learned about sensor and actuator systems used in various devices. Afterwards, the SocRob@Home team introduced the robots Bob and Lola and the competitions in which they take part.
The visit concluded with a group photo at the entrance of the North Tower and an invitation for future visits to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
