Escola Secundária Dr. João Carlos Celestino Gomes visits DEEC
On the 17th, we welcomed students from Escola Secundária Dr. João Carlos Celestino Gomes, in Ílhavo. The visit began with a brief presentation of the department by Daniela Leonardo. The students were introduced to the research areas of Electrical Engineering, as well as some of the active projects led by faculty members, extracurricular activities, and the courses available.
Afterwards, the students visited the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics module and the Multimedia and Telecommunications module.
In the first module, students learned about the components and some of the concepts related to how robots operate, exploring the sensors and actuators of Bob, the competition robot of the SocRob@Home team.
In the Multimedia and Telecommunications module, Professor Custódio Peixeiro highlighted the key historical milestones in the study of electromagnetic waves, emphasizing the contributions of scientists such as Maxwell, Marconi, Hertz, and Morse.
The visit concluded with a group photo at the entrance of the north tower.
