PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering wins the 1st edition of the “3-Minute Thesis” competition
Catarina Botelho, a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, won the 1st edition of the “3-Minute Thesis” competition, for “Fala” project, a vocal biomarker for disease detection, developed at the Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores: Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa (INESC ID).
The final competition took place yesterday, May 30th, at the National Museum of Natural History and Science of Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa).
Twelve of the 150 initial candidates reached the final and five Técnico students competed in the finals. In this competition, promoted by ULisboa in partnership with Público newspaper, the participants were challenged to explain the impact of their research – importance and impact – in three minutes and using a single slide.
It is important to note that Catarina Botelho was one of the winners of the 6th edition of the Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo Award.
