Professor Luís Vidigal Award

It aims to annually award a master's dissertation that fits within the scientific areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Computers, and that, in the jury's view, demonstrates the best scientific, innovative, and quality characteristics. Applications are open to theses completed in the last academic year, and candidates must have their final grade registered in the administration office by the last day of applications (by 6 PM).

Scientific Research Grants (BIC), by the French Institute

The French Institute of Portugal started the application phase for individual mobility grants for researchers at the PhD and post-doctoral levels (with the degree obtained after December 31, 2015) who work at a Portuguese institution and are interested in establishing new Franco-Portuguese collaborations. The grants allow the winners to work in a research unit or laboratory in France for one month. They cover airfare, accommodation and living allowances (based on the position and duration of the stay), and medical insurance.

University of Lisbon/Caixa Geral de Depósitos Scientific Awards

The 2025 edition of the award promoted by ULisboa aims to grant 26 Awards and 52 Honorable Mentions to faculty and researchers, including post-doctoral fellows, who have been conducting research at the University of Lisbon for at least two years and have an active contract at the application deadline.

Unite! Doctoral Scholarships

These scholarships are part of the protocol between FCT and ULisboa and are awarded for Doctoral studies in the priority intervention areas of Unite! (other areas are not excluded):

Open Call: LEAP-SE 2025

Applications are open for the 2025 edition of LEAP-SE: EU-Africa Cooperation on Sustainable Energy, promoted by FCT. This call is part of the long-term partnership between the African Union and the European Union and funds R&I projects in sustainable energy. According to the information available on the FCT website, "this partnership is part of the ‘Climate Change and Sustainable Energy’ (CCSE) framework of the AU-EU High-Level Policy Dialogue (HLPD) on Science, Technology and Innovation," under Horizon Europe.

MIT Portugal Program: Applications for Funding of Exploratory Projects

Eight projects will be funded. Applications should focus on the areas of Climate Science & Climate Change; Earth Systems: Oceans to Near Space; Digital Transformation in Manufacturing or Sustainable Cities. Eligible applicants include research teams from higher education institutions, R&D institutes and centers, state or international laboratories based in Portugal, non-profit private institutions focused on Science and Technology, and other private or public institutions engaged in scientific research activities.

Scientific Research Grant (BIC): PhD Candidates and Researchers

The French Institute of Portugal is opening a competition for the awarding of individual mobility grants (PhD and post-doctoral level) for Portuguese or foreign researchers residing in Portugal who are working at a Portuguese research institution.

The grant allows the winners of the competition to go to a laboratory or research unit in France for one month, covering mobility, accommodation, and food costs.

This is intended for researchers and young researchers who wish to establish new Franco-Portuguese collaborations.
