FCT Research Scholarships for Doctoral Studies 2025
The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) will award over 1500 doctoral scholarships to enrolled PhD students. There are two types of applications:
- General line: for students intending to conduct research in an academic setting;
- Non-specific line: for students intending to engage with companies, public administration, NGOs, or collaborative innovation centers.

Pedagogical Innovation Projects
Two types of projects will be funded: Synergistic (up to €10,000) and Exploratory (up to €5,000).
The aim is to encourage Técnico teaching staff to implement innovative teaching and active learning methods that improve and adapt Técnico’s educational model. Projects must:
- Demonstrate positive impact across multiple courses or departments
- Provide metrics for success and describe how they’ll be measured

Awarded for developing and using new technologies, tools, and digital methodologies in engineering education in Portugal, particularly at Técnico. More info here.
Summer Internships at Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC)
The Jülich Supercomputing Centre invites Bachelor's graduates who haven't yet completed their Master's to join the summer program from August 4 to October 10, 2025, supported by CECAM – Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire.

Google PhD Fellowship Program
This program supports outstanding PhD students with innovative research in computing and related fields. Selected fellows may be paired with a Google mentor.

E.Awards@Técnico 2024/2025
This award celebrates innovation and entrepreneurship projects created by Técnico students enrolled in Entrepreneurship and Innovation courses. It aims to promote and recognize innovative ideas and projects from the Técnico community.

PhD Fast Track – Técnico Doctoral School
The PhD Fast Track program, from the Técnico Doctoral School, is designed for high-achieving students wishing to start a PhD during their Master’s, over five years (10 semesters), combining both study cycles.
Applications are open until September. Eligible applicants include students from any institution, national or international, completing their Bachelor’s this year or currently in the 1st year of a Master’s at Técnico. Top students are considered those who achieved an A-Level (top 10% of the class) or 17/20 in their Bachelor’s.
