On June 17th, student Pramod Kumar Maurya was awarded his PhD with distinction and honors by Instituto Superior Técnico. Pramod Kumar Maurya defended his thesis in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering, titled “Guidance, Control, and Opportunistic Terrain-Based Navigation of Marine Vehicles.” The defense took place at the Abreu Faro Amphitheater (in the Interdisciplinary Complex) on the Alameda campus.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Paulo Oliveira, a faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Técnico, and comprised Professors Rita Cunha, also from DEEC, Pedro Batista, Associate Professor at Técnico of the University of Lisbon, Aníbal de Matos, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of Porto, and Victor Sousa Lobo, Full Professor at the Naval School of the Military University Institute.
