Electro Day is an initiative to publicize the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the degrees, research centers and student clusters linked to the department. As part of this event, the ElecroCap Demo Day, which is the final activity of the ElectroCap program, will also take place.

The ElectroCap Program is a DEEC initiative that takes place within the scope of the First Cycle Integrated Project (Capstone) curricular unit (PIC1). This program's main objective is to create conditions so that students can integrate the maximum number of concepts acquired throughout the first cycle in solving a real problem or challenge, as defined in the 1st cycle integrated project regulations, involving students in an initiative with value for themselves, for Técnico and for Society.

This objective is expanded to the development of three skills relevant to the student's future: the ability to use technology to solve problems, the ability to innovate, creating value with their knowledge, and the ability to adequately communicate processes, technologies used and the achieved results.

To bring the functioning of the program closer to the students' professional future, each project is carried out by a team with 6 members. Each of the 32 teams has an innovation challenge, 20 of which are proposed by the teams themselves and 12 chosen by students from a set of challenges proposed by DEEC professors. Based on the chosen challenge, each team presented a proposal for their ElectroCap project, which was approved by the scientific advisor, as well as a plan for the work that take place in the second semester.

Throughout this semester, team members will report on their project developments on the project's website, meeting every two weeks with their teaching assistant and, periodically, with their supervisor or mentor. In addition, they participate in the program's series of seminars with topics related to innovation and electrical and computer engineering. In the middle of the semester, the team submitted an intermediate presentation with the project's development status and the planning for the remaining activities.

The highlight of the program is the ElectroCap Demo Day to be held at Técnico Electro Day where the teams will present to the community the results achieved with their project. Each team will have a display where they will present their project evaluation materials, which include a poster, a presentation (pitch deck) and a 3-minute video in addition to the prototype demonstration of their solution.

Visitors' opinions on the teams' presentation of projects will be taken into account in the evaluation.
