Escola Tecnológica Profissional Albicastrense came to learn about the Internet of Things

On March 26, we welcomed students from the Albicastrense Professional Technological School (ETEPA). The students got to know the academic offerings of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the available student associations, and some of the activities involving DEEC. The initial presentation was given by Professor Sónia Pinto, who also mentioned the research carried out by some of the department’s faculty members.
Next, the students visited the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics module and the Networks and Computers module.

No primeiro módulo, o professor Alberto Vale explicou as In the first module, Professor Alberto Vale explained the differences between the concepts of artificial intelligence and robotics. Throughout the conversation, he also discussed some of the dangers and benefits of AI, emphasizing the importance of human thinking in a world of constant technological evolution.

In the second module, the students learned about the Internet of Things, which connects different types of devices to the network. As an example, Professor Paulo Pereira used projects that involved the connection between information available on the IPMA (Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere) website and a phone call.
The morning ended with a photo on the north tower staircase, along with an invitation for future visits to DEEC.
