António Guterres named one of Nature’s 10 people who helped shape science in 2022
The world-renowned journal Nature named António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) and alumnus of Electrical Engineering at Técnico, on its annual list of 10 people who “helped shaped science” in 2022.
The distinction is due to the work developed by Guterres in the fight against the climate and food crises and his role in the negotiations, which allowed the transport of cereals from Ukrainian ports, in a delicate political scenario.
This list explores key developments in science and some of the people who played important parts in these milestones. Nature’s 10 is not an award or a ranking. The selection is compiled by Nature’s editors to highlight key events in science that took place this year.
