José Luís Trindade and Duarte Pardal were awarded by Cisco
The students were recognized for the work developed during the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years, respectively, in the course unit of Architecture and Network Management. The Cisco Academic Merit Award ceremony took place on October 28th, in the Meeting Room of the Central Pavilion, at the Alameda campus.
José Luís Trindade was awarded for his performance in the 2022/2023 academic year, achieving a final grade of 18 out of 20. "I took the course and really enjoyed learning, so I thank Professor Paulo Pereira and Cisco for this extra motivation," he emphasized.
The winner of the most recent award, corresponding to the 2023/2024 academic year, was Duarte Pardal, with a final grade of 20 out of 20. "I want to thank the Técnico structure, which allows us to have the ideal conditions for learning, and especially Professor Paulo Pereira, who has always shown a great passion for teaching," he highlighted.
The professor responsible for the course unit, Paulo Pereira, thanked the students for their efforts: "It is always a pleasure to see our students succeed and enter the workforce very well prepared," he stated.
On behalf of Cisco, João Marques emphasized the importance of rewarding excellence, thanking the professors for "developing this talent." The company also made a donation of 1,750 euros to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering to improve the teaching and learning conditions of the mentioned course unit. Representing the department, Sónia Pinto reinforced the importance of this support.
These will be the role models for future students of this course unit. We want to nurture talent within our department and within Técnico.

Rogério Colaço, President of the Instituto Superior Técnico, was present at the event and stated that "rewarding students is a major focus at Técnico." He also recalled his student days: "In the past, engineering courses were very difficult, without this kind of recognition, and today we understand the importance of these awards, especially for motivational purposes," he emphasized. Highlighting the relationship between Cisco and Técnico, which began in 2019, he stressed that the School's goal is "to train engineers who are prepared for what awaits them in the job market."
Pedro Amaral, Vice-President of Técnico for Business Interface, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, also congratulated the students, stating that "they are worthy representatives of what the school teaches."
