Instituto de Educação e Desenvolvimento Profissional came to learn about quantum communication

Last Friday, we welcomed the students from IEDP - Institute of Education and Professional Development. Professor Sónia Pinto gave a presentation about the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, covering not only the available courses and extracurricular activities but also the ongoing research conducted by some faculty members.

After the presentation, the students visited the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics module, as well as the Multimedia and Telecommunications module.

The first module was presented by Professor Alberto Vale, who explained the difference between artificial intelligence and robotics. He also talked about his early projects, answering some of the students' questions, and highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence in tools and applications such as social networks.

In the Telecommunications and Multimedia module, the students learned about communication using quantum physics, including the Schrödinger’s cat paradox and the existence of undefined states, which aim to contribute to user security.

The visit ended with a photo at the entrance of the building.

The DEEC invites students and teachers to visit the various modules available.
