Google PhD fellowship program opens applications

The Google PhD Fellowship program supports PhD students who stand out for the innovation and impact of their research in computer science or closely related areas. The company encourages connections between researchers worldwide, and selected candidates may have the opportunity to be mentored by a Google researcher.

Which research areas are available?

Students may apply in the following research areas:

  • computer architecture;
  • systems, networking, and cloud computing;
  • quantum computing;
  • algorithms and optimization;
  • human-computer interaction;
  • machine learning and its foundations;
  • software engineering and programming languages;
  • natural language processing;
  • healthcare;
  • machine perception;
  • privacy, security, and protection.

What are the general fellowship conditions?

Conditions vary depending on the candidate’s region. In the case of European students, fellowships may be awarded for up to two years.

How to apply?

Applications must be submitted by an official university representative by May 15. For more details, candidates should contact the relevant department to initiate the nomination process. Each university may nominate up to three candidates.
