The French Institute of Portugal opens applications for Scientific Research Grants (BIC)

This Monday, the French Institute of Portugal started the application phase for individual mobility grants for researchers at the PhD and post-doctoral levels (with the degree obtained after December 31, 2015) who work at a Portuguese institution and are interested in establishing new Franco-Portuguese collaborations. The grants allow the winners to work in a research unit or laboratory in France for one month. They cover airfare, accommodation and living allowances (based on the position and duration of the stay), and medical insurance.
According to the information available on the French Institute of Portugal website, applications can be submitted from "all scientific domains."
How to apply
Applications can be submitted in Portuguese, English, or French by February 5, 2025, at 18:00 (Lisbon time) to guillaume.boccara@ifp-lisboa.com and madeleine.gal@ifp-lisboa.com, with the subject line “Surname/Name – BIC GRANT APPLICATION” and following the naming convention specified in parentheses for each document. The following documents should be included:
- Identity document (and Portuguese residence title if not Portuguese);
- CV (CV_surname.pdf) – Maximum 2 pages;
- Research project description (Description_surname.pdf): Maximum 2 pages, detailing the following elements: Research project plan, motivation and expectations, whether the work will be carried out within a previous collaboration between two scientific institutions, long-term perspectives for the research work;
- Invitation letter (Invitation_surname.pdf) from the research unit or laboratory in France. The letter must include the exact dates of the stay and the institution's logo;
- Recommendation letter from the research unit or laboratory in Portugal (Name_reference.pdf);
- Last obtained degree.
