Four renewals and three new Axians scholarships for DEEC students

The 'AXIANS – Business For @ll' scholarship is aimed at undergraduate or master's students in Electrical and Computer Engineering (LEECMEEC), Telecommunications and Computer Engineering (LETIMETI) and Electronic Engineering (LEEMEE).

Davilson, a new scholarship recipient felt “that someone believed in him” upon receiving the ‘AXIANS – Business For @ll’ scholarship. This was the testimony he shared at the Civil Museum on February 21st, during the ceremony to hand over these scholarships, a protocol signed between the Instituto Superior Técnico and Axians.

Of the seven students who attended, four renewed their scholarship. This is the case of Carmem Reis, student of the Degree in Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering (LETI). The fact that her parents reside in Cape Verde “makes every step of [her] education an additional challenge”, according to the student. In this sense, the scholarship is an “essential emotional support” that “makes it possible to continue the academic journey with more security and focus”.

Students who receive this scholarship volunteer 30 hours per semester at a non-profit organization of their choice. Motivated to “help communities” through the education she receives, Nelma Andrade says that, with the help of the scholarship, she will strive to achieve this goal. As for Juan Lopez, a Venezuelan scholarship holder studying the Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (LEEC), “this support is not just economic”, serving as additional motivation to focus on making the most of it.

Francisco Melo, vice-president for Academic Affairs at Técnico, stressed that “this type of initiative is very important because our education is an essential tool that we take to the world”. The professor congratulated the scholarship holders present at the ceremony and also thanked the patrons representing Axians.
