Professor Teresa Correia de Barros distinguished with Golde Award

“For outstanding achievements in lightning research with reference to protection of transmission and distribution lines”

Professor Teresa Correia Barros was awarded the Rudolf Heinrich Golde Award at the last meeting of the International Conference on Lightning Protection (ICLP), which took place in Rzeszow, Poland. Justifying this attribution is the quote that accompanies it and that reflects the work developed by the DEEC professor throughout her career: “For outstanding achievements in lightning research with reference to protection of transmission and distribution lines”.

The ICLP is a scientific / technical body, created almost 70 years ago, which aims to promote scientific research on the physics of electrical discharges of atmospheric origin, lightning, and on methods that improve the protection of people, animals, buildings and equipment against the effects lightning, and whose scientific committee is made up of 18 world-renowned researchers. It is a careful analysis by this body that leads to the biennial nomination of candidates for the Golde Award. Applications are then analyzed and voted by the committee made up of individuals who previously received this distinction. The distinction is awarded to the two most voted, a duo integrated this year by the DEEC professor.
