Winner of Prof. Luís Vidigal Award 2007
The winner of Prof. Luís Vidigal Award, 2007 edition was the work entitled "WMTP: Wireless Modular Transport Protocol - A Modular Approach to Wireless Sensor Network Transport Layer Protocols" carried out by Engº Luís David Figueiredo Mascarenhas Moreira Pedrosa, MERC student - master's in communications and Network Engineering (Campus Taguspark).
We invite all to be present at the Prof. Luís Vidigal Award ceremony, 2006/07 edition, which takes place on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 3:30 pm, in the Amphitheater of the Interdisciplinary Complex of IST.
The Prof. Luís Vidigal was established in 2000 by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), with the collaboration of the Department of Informatics Engineering and INESC (Institute of Systems and Computer Engineering).
The Prize is a way of honoring and perpetuating as an example for future generations the memory of a great scientist, pedagogue and research manager in the fields of Electronics, Telecommunications and Computers, Prof. Doctor Luís Manuel Ramos da Silva Vidigal, who has prematurely departed. The Award is intended to annually reward the graduate of any degree at IST, author of the best Master's Dissertation, whose theme is within the scope of the scientific areas of Electrical Engineering, Informatics and Computers and which brings together the best scientific, innovation and quality.
Over the years, the Prize has attracted high-quality works, making the decision-making process of the Jury, made up of academics from various universities in the country and other personalities from the business and technological world, difficult. The evaluation criteria adopted by the Jury to classify each work are guided by its scientific merit, the rigor, innovation and creativity, its potential for application and the quality of the presentation.
The Award was constituted on the basis of an equity fund obtained through the collaboration of several national companies or companies operating in Portugal, annually attributing a significant value to the winning candidates.
