Celebration of DEEC Day 2022

On the 12th of July, the faculty of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering met at the National Museum of Natural History and Science to celebrate the DEEC day.
The day began with a brief tour of the museum's, followed by an opening session in which Técnico's president, Professor Rogério Colaço, spoke about the challenges and changes with the times of pandemic, along with the challenges of the new teaching method, for students and teachers, and how it is aimed to improve in the coming years.
Then, Professor Pedro Santa Clara, from Nova School of Business and Economics, spoke about his new School, Escola 42, with an innovative teaching method, with only digital support, without teachers, which aims to stimulate mutual help and autonomy of its students.
After a short period of coffee break, the participants were divided by lectures such as "Training Offers, current and future", "The Challenges of Teaching and Assessment (including MEPP and digital resources)" and "Technology and Society (training, innovation and research)", where topics related to the future of university education and the best ways for students to prepare for the challenges of working life were discussed.
These activities were followed by a lunch in the museum gardens and in the afternoon there was the opportunity to learn about the functioning of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Rensselaer, in the United States, covering topics such as what measures were taken during the lock down and which proved to be beneficial and ended up remaining in on person lectures.
Finally, the day ended with a reflection on the future of teaching and research in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
