FST Lisboa achieves historic results in the 2023/24 season

The IST Formula Student team concluded the season with the best internal results, featuring the FST13 prototype – a 100% electric and autonomous car. The team consisted of over 60 students, primarily from Electrical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering programs at DEEC, as well as from Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

More than just an academic competition, I see this initiative as a great incubator for skills, whether technical, project management, or even leadership.

The FST13 competed in the electric vehicle (EV) and driveless vehicle (DV) categories.

The final phase took place from September 3 to 7 in Castelo Branco, where the students achieved 1st place on the podium in both categories, as well as the best results in the SkidPad and acceleration events.

At the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (Spain), the students secured 2nd place in the AV category and 8th in the EV category. They faced challenges due to high temperatures, as the event was held in the first week of August.

At Hockenheimring (Germany), the group finished 7th in EV and 8th in AV after an accident, highlighting their performance in a competition with 80 teams and showcasing the students' efforts throughout the year. This phase took place from August 12 to 18.

The annual event aims to challenge students in various aspects, including agility, endurance, and vehicle performance on the track, as well as design, financial management, and theoretical knowledge. The Portuguese circuit is already included in the international calendar for 2025, hosting the competition from July 28 to August 2.
