"Electronics First: Come and build your own oscilloscope", workshop by Steven Leeb
Yesterday, a group of 20 Electrical and Computer Engineering students, participated in an online workshop, by Steven Leeb, full professor in the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering at MIT. Professor Leeb is involved in the design, analysis, development and maintenance processes for all kinds of machinery, electrical actuators, sensors, power electronics and drives.
The motto for the workshp was "Electronics First: Come and build your own oscilloscope".
The participants of the workshop gathered in the meeting room of the Departament of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) at 5pm. Then, the workshop started with an opening lecture by Professor Leeb, followed by the mounting and testing of the PSoC 5LP Oscilloscope and Waveform Generator. The session ended at 7 pm.
To guarantee the sucess of the event, a few days before the workshop Professor Leeb had already shiped 20 kits with all the required parts, so that the students could mount and test their own oscilloscopes during the workshop.
This was a very sucessful and free event and, in the end, the participants have been offered the kits they mounted during the workshop.
João Rodrigues, student of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and President of the "Hackerschool", and Sérgio André, PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, were in charge of the local arrangements, with the support of professors Luís Silveira and Sónia Pinto.
