Escola Secundária Arco Íris visits the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC)

Yesterday, we received the students from Arco Íris Secondary School as part of their visit to the Telecommunications and Multimedia modules and the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics module, organized by the DEEC. The department's initial presentation was given by Professor Sónia Pinto, who introduced the available undergraduate programs and extracurricular activities.

In the first module, Professor Custódio Peixeiro spoke a bit about the history of the study of electromagnetic waves, covering the contributions of scientists such as Maxwell, Marconi, and Hertz. The professor also engaged the students in experiments that demonstrated how these waves propagate.

Artificial Intelligence and Robotics was presented by Bárbara Teixeira and some members of SocRob@Home, in collaboration with the Institute for Systems and Robotics. In this module, the students learned about some of the components necessary for the functioning of robots.
The visit ended with the usual photo on the staircase of the North Tower and an invitation for future visits to the DEEC.
