Escola Secundária Gago Coutinho visits us again
On the 19th of February, we received several students from the Escola Secundária Gago Coutinho. The visit began with a presentation of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) by Professor Pedro Tomás.
During the presentation, the students learned about the courses and some extracurricular activities at Técnico, which include the fields of electrical engineering. They then visited the Electronic Systems and Multimedia and Telecommunications modules.
The first module presentation was also conducted by Professor Pedro Tomás, who talked a bit about a project aimed at restoring the vision of blind people, demonstrating the impact of this field on health.
In the second module, presented by Professor Carlos Cardoso, the students learned about the history of the study of electromagnetic waves, including the contributions of Maxwell, Marconi, and Hertz. The students also participated in several experiments to understand how wave propagation works.
The visit ended with the usual photograph at the entrance of the North Tower and an invitation to visit DEEC again.
