Professors of DEEC take office as new Management Bodies
On the 7th of December, the new management bodies of Técnico took office. During the ceremony, the elected members of the School Council, Scientific Council, Pedagogical Council, and the School Assembly took the stage, one by one, to sign their term of office alongside the President of Técnico, Rogério Colaço, and the Rector of the University of Lisbon, Luís Ferreira.
Nuno Horta is the new President of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for the 2025-2026 term, and also a representative in the School Assembly for the 2025-2028 term. The new Executive Committee includes professors Jorge Fernandes (Vice-President for Teaching and Training), Sérgio Pequito (Vice-President for Research, Development, and External Relations), Rita Cunha (Member for Finance, Non-Teaching Staff, and Spaces), Carlos Ribeiro (Member for Teaching Staff), and Sónia Pinto (Member for Image and Communication).
Regarding the representatives of teaching staff and researchers in the School Assembly, besides Nuno Horta, José de Sousa also took office. Among the representatives of students for the 2025-2026 term, the following took office: Diogo Ferreira (from the Bachelor's in Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering), Duarte Diamantino (from the Master's in Electronic Engineering), Estela de Figueiredo Leandro (from the Master's in Energy Engineering and Management), Manoel Maio and Tiago Quintino (from the Bachelor's in Electrical and Computer Engineering), and Ricardo Almeida (from the Master's in Data Engineering and Science).
In the Pedagogical Council for the 2025-2028 term, which aims to ensure the pedagogical quality of the School while respecting the strategic guidelines of the School Council and the competencies of the President of Técnico, professor Paulo Branco took office along with other representatives. Among the representatives of students for the 2025-2026 term, the following took office: Bruna Fernandes (from the Bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering), Jorge Gabriel Marques (from the Bachelor's in Electrical and Computer Engineering), and Laura Zappavigna (from the Master's in Energy Engineering and Management). Six additional members will be elected in the Course Delegates Council for one-year terms.
In the Scientific Council for the 2025-2028 term, the body responsible for the scientific management of Técnico, respecting the strategic guidelines of the School Council and the competencies of the institution's president, professor Paulo Oliveira took office. Along with the representatives, eight members elected in the Research Units Council for the 2025-2026 term will join.
Among the members of the School Council for the 2025-2028 term, the decision-making and supervisory body of the compliance with the law, the Statutes, and particularly the mission of Técnico, Leonel de Sousa and Rui Neves took office. Among the representatives of students in the School Council for the 2025-2026 term, António Jarmela (from the Master's in Aerospace Engineering) also took office. Three additional members not linked to Técnico will be co-opted by the remaining members for the 2025-2028 term.
