Escola Profissional Bento de Jesus Caraça came to learn about networks and computers

On the 16th, we welcomed students from the Bento de Jesus Caraça Vocational School. The visit began with a presentation of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering by Professor António Rodrigues. During the session, students learned more about the department’s research areas, degree programs, and some of the extracurricular activities available at Técnico.

After the presentation, the students visited the Networks and Computers and Electronic Systems modules.

In the Networks and Computers module, Professor António Grilo explained the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) to the students and demonstrated how it works through practical examples.

In the Electronic Systems module, Professor Pedro Tomás presented the Elónica project, which aims to restore vision to blind individuals by connecting an electronic system to the brain.

The afternoon ended with a group photo on the North Tower staircase and an open invitation for future visits to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
