Students

The student should demonstrate:
- having the ability to systematically understand a scientific domain of study;
- having competences, aptitudes and research methods associated with a scientific domain;
- having the ability to conceive, design, adapt and carry out significant research respecting the requirements imposed by academic quality and integrity standards;
- having carried out a significant number of original research works that have contributed to the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge, part of which deserve international dissemination in publications with peer review;
- being able to critically analyse, evaluate and synthesise new and complex ideas;
- being able to communicate with the peers, the rest of the academic community and society in general about the area in which they are specialised;
- being able, in a knowledge-based society, to promote, in an academic or professional context, technological, social or cultural progress.
The student will have to:
- present a workplan in conjunction with the supervising team;
- obtain 30 ECTS credits in the curricular component;
- present the thesis proposal to CAT, up to 18 months after the date of enrolment;
- publish the work in papers in national and international journals and conferences;
- submit the preliminary version of the thesis up to 5 years after the date of enrolment;
- conduct the public defence of the thesis, which includes a 30-minute presentation.
