Requirements

The following may apply for the Ph.D. Programme in Electrical and Computer Engineering (PDEEC):
- Holders of an M.Sc. degree, or legal equivalent, in the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering, or similar;
- Holders of a B.Sc. degree, or legal equivalent, in the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering, or similar, holding a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum, which is recognised by IST’s Scientific Council as attesting the capacity to carry out the Programme;
- Holders of an exceptional academic, scientific or professional curriculum, in the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering, or similar, which is recognised by IST’s Scientific Council as attesting the capacity to carry out the Programme.
IST’s Scientific Council decides on the admission of candidates, based on PDEEC Coordinator’s recommendation.
The recognition of those not holding as M.Sc. degree will be based on recommendations issued by two professors or researchers holding a Ph.D., considered to be specialists in the scientific field of Electrical and Computer Engineering, appointed by PDEEC Coordinator.
