Escola Profissional de Artes, Tecnologias e Desporto returns to DEEC

On the 27th, we once again received students from the Professional Course in Arts, Technology, and Sports. The visit began with a presentation by Daniela Leonardo about the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, where the students learned more about the department's educational offerings and scientific areas. During the presentation, they also got to know part of the research carried out by some faculty members, such as the development of artificial intelligence mechanisms for disease detection through speech.

Next, the students visited the modules on Electronic Systems, Multimedia and Telecommunications, and Energy and Sustainability.

In the first module, presented by the Student Group of Electrical and Computer Engineering, António Ribeiro and Miguel dos Santos showed the students how to assemble a "banana piano." Through an electronic circuit and Arduino, they created a system where different sounds were emitted when the fruit pieces were touched.

In the Multimedia and Telecommunications module, the students learned about quantum communication. Through the Schrödinger cat paradox and the existence of undefined states, this communication aims to enhance user security.

Finally, in the Energy and Sustainability module, Luís Bucho and Pedro Baghubai demonstrated how some electromagnetic induction mechanisms work and conducted experiments with superconductors, where they were able to observe the levitation of materials due to the presence of a stable magnetic field.

The visit concluded with a photo at the entrance of the North Tower.

The DEEC invites students and teachers to visit the various available modules.
