Real Colégio de Portugal came to learn about superconductors

On October 29, students from the 9th to 12th grades of Real Colégio de Portugal visited the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The visit began with a presentation of DEEC by Professor Sónia Pinto. The students had the opportunity to learn more about the department’s scientific areas, including research conducted by some of the faculty and alumni. The professor also discussed the courses and extracurricular activities that students may participate in as Técnico students.

Next, the classes visited the modules on Networks and Computers and Energy and Sustainability.

In the Networks and Computers module, Professor Paulo Pereira discussed the topic of the "Internet of Things," also explaining how sensors and actuators work.

The second module was led by Pedro Bhagubai and Luís Bucho, who explained the mechanisms of magnetic levitation and electromagnetic induction, applied in areas such as high-speed train construction.

The visit concluded with a group photo at the entrance of the North Tower.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites students and teachers to visit the various modules available.
