Carlos Fernandes wins award from the Portuguese Space Agency

Carlos Fernandes, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico and researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), was awarded the Career Prize by the Portuguese Space Agency. The award ceremony took place during the closing session of the eighth edition of the New Space Atlantic Summit, held in Lisbon on May 14.

According to the organization, with this award, the Portuguese Space Agency aims to recognize “a career of excellence and a remarkable contribution to the development of space science and technology in Portugal.”

For Carlos Fernandes, this is “a recognition of the ongoing work” carried out at Técnico and IT “in the field of space communications, involving and seeking to inspire students through our projects and scientific advancements.”

On the same occasion, the Portuguese Space Agency also presented the Innovation Prize in Space Science and Technology to TEKEVER, a Técnico spin-off company, for the GAMALINK project.
