Isabel Trancoso elected as a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences

Isabel Trancoso, currently a researcher at INESC-ID, was elected on July 3rd as a corresponding member of the 8th section – Information Sciences and Technologies – of the Academy of Sciences, which is composed of nine sections, divided between the Classes of Sciences and Humanities.
The Academy of Sciences aims to promote and support scientific research, foster the development and study of national culture in its various forms, collaborate in educational activities, and contribute through research to the advancement and discussion of ideas. Members are selected among Portuguese nationals with a recognized body of scientific or literary work. Corresponding members are expected to attend plenary sessions, take part in the Academy’s work, and contribute actively to the initiatives of their respective sections.
This year, Isabel Ribeiro, a researcher at the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR), also took on new responsibilities within the Academy, joining the Publications Committee. She was elected a corresponding member in 2023.
In 2022, José Fonseca de Moura, an alumnus of Electrical and Computer Engineering, became a full member of the Academy, while José Santos-Victor, also a researcher at ISR, was elected a corresponding member.
