On November 17 and 18, the Jornadas do Técnico 2025 – “The Future at Técnico” will take place, organized by the School Assembly, at the Congress Center of Instituto Superior Técnico, Alameda campus. This year, the event aims to address the challenges posed by the development and application of Artificial Intelligence in education and academic life.

On the first day, the debates “Well-being in the Improvement of Professional Activity” and “Skills and Training as a Differentiating Factor in a Career” will take place. On November 18, the morning will begin with the panel “Artificial Intelligence in Research and Education”, featuring Sérgio Pequito, Vice President for Research, Development, and External Relations of DEEC and researcher at the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR); Pedro Lima, DEEC professor and researcher at the same institute; and Jorge Marques, undergraduate student in Electrical and Computer Engineering and member of the Pedagogical Council. Following that, the session “Artificial Intelligence: Impact on Society” will include a presentation by José Santos Victor, DEEC professor and ISR researcher.

In the afternoon, Mário Figueiredo, DEEC professor and researcher at the Institute of Telecommunications; Manoel Maio, undergraduate student in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Vice President of the General Assembly Board of the Lisbon Academic Federation; and Catarina Bernardo, PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, will participate in the debate “The Técnico Teaching Model.”
The final panel, “The Role of Student Groups / Associations in Academic Training,” will feature João Paulo Monteiro, researcher at ISR Lisboa and coordinator of ISTSat-1; Mariana Madeira Cal, master’s student in Electrical and Computer Engineering and coordinator of the Núcleo de Arte Fotográfica (NAF-IST); and Duarte Diamantino, master’s student in Electronic Engineering and member of N3E.

The event is open to the entire academic community and only requires prior registration.
