The Best Thesis Award, an initiative by APDC - Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications, in partnership with the Consortium of Engineering Schools and the participating Academies in the UPskill Program, aims to recognize the best master's theses in the areas of telecommunications, information technologies, and media.

As Técnico is one of the schools included in the Consortium of Engineering Schools (CEE), students who have completed their master’s degree in the 2023/24 academic year can apply.

Which master's programs are included?

The following master's programs from Técnico are included in the areas covered:

• Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MEEC);
• Master's in Telecommunications and Computer Engineering (METI);
• Master's in Aerospace Engineering (MEAer).

How to submit an application?

Applications should include the completion of the form, available on the APCD website, and the following documents, sent to the email eventos@apdc.pt after submitting the form, by April 11, 2025:

• Cover letter/justification of the application, indicating the area being applied to;
• Curriculum Vitae;
• Master's thesis submitted for the award in PDF format;
• Identification of the thesis supervisor(s) and a consent form signed by them (although the form is free, it must include the following information: full name of the supervisor(s), full name of the candidate, year, thesis title and grade, name of the higher education institution, and signature, either manual or digital).

How is the evaluation done?

The evaluation of the application is divided into two parameters: 50% for originality and innovative character, and 50% for social impact, including its application and social utility.
The jury will be "presided over by a representative of APDC or one of its members with delegated competence, and composed of a variable number of personalities of recognized merit in the fields of the competition, according to the evaluation criteria established," as per the information available in the regulations.

Important dates:

• Application submission period: until April 11;
• Evaluation of applications: from April 18 to May 7;
• Announcement of results: May 13 and 14.
