CAPSTONE Projects open applications

Applications deadline: May 15

The CAPSTONE program consists of integrating master’s students into collaborative curricular projects, supervised by professors and researchers from Técnico, focused on solving real-world problems proposed by companies, student groups, or other institutions, consolidating knowledge from different fields. The 2025/26 edition is intended for students currently enrolled in the 1st year of their master’s who wish to develop their thesis within this framework in the next academic year.

Applications must be submitted by May 15, 2025, through the official program website.

What projects can I join?

In this edition, students can join student groups such as Fórmula Student Técnico, HackerSchool, and ISTrain. In the business sector, students will have the opportunity to work on challenges from companies such as Fidelidade or NAV Portugal. Which master’s programs offer this option?

For the 2025/26 edition, projects are available for the following master’s programs:

  • Electrical and Computer Engineering (MEEC)
  • Electronic Engineering (MEE)
  • Aerospace Engineering (MEAer)
  • Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering (METI)
  • Data Science and Engineering (MECD)
  • Energy Engineering and Management (MEGE)
How are these projects structured?

These projects are carried out as a master’s thesis track. Their development takes place during the final year of the second cycle and is structured in two parts:

  • 1st semester – students work on analyzing the proposed challenge, its context, and defining objectives through the Second Cycle Integrative Project;
  • 2nd semester – students complete their thesis, which contributes to the collective project.
