On July 29, the student Gonçalo Archer Franco Frazão was awarded the degree of Doctor by Instituto Superior Técnico, having passed his PhD defense with distinction. Gonçalo Archer Franco Frazão defended his thesis in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering, titled "Temperature estimation in thermalizing two-level systems", under the supervision of Professor Yasser Rashid Revez Omar, from Técnico. The examination took place online.

The jury was chaired by Professor Paulo José da Costa Branco, Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico – University of Lisbon, and included Professor Vítor Brás de Sequeira Amaral, Full Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Aveiro; Professor Mário Gonçalo Mestre Veríssimo Silveirinha, Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico – University of Lisbon; Professor Ariel Ricardo Negrão da Silva Guerreiro, Associate Professor (with Habilitation) at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto; Professor João Carlos Carvalho de Sá Seixas, Associate Professor (with Habilitation) at Instituto Superior Técnico – University of Lisbon; and Professor Yasser Rashid Revez Omar, Associate Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico – University of Lisbon.
