The EURASIP Individual Technical Achievement Award 2016 was awarded to Prof. Mário Figueiredo, with the quote:

"For fundamental contributions to optimization algorithms for sparsity-based and wavelet-based signal processing".

The award will be delivered at a ceremony to be held during the EUSIPCO 2016 conference in Budapest, Hungary.
