Shanghai University Lisbon College: Graduation Ceremony Celebrates the First Generation of ULisboa–Shanghai Master’s Graduates

On the 17th of this month, the graduation ceremony for the first 60 students to complete their master’s degrees through the Shanghai University Lisbon College took place. This initiative, launched in 2023, is a partnership between the University of Lisbon and Shanghai University. The agreement includes the Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering, jointly promoted with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC). The event followed the third meeting of the joint management committee of the Lisbon College, which was attended by Pedro Silva Girão, professor at Técnico, João Peixoto, Vice-Rector of the University of Lisbon, Luís Ferreira, Rector of the University of Lisbon, and Rogério Colaço, President of Técnico.

The graduation ceremony took place in the Xuehai Hall of the Lehu Building, on the main campus, and was attended by professors Pedro Vítor and José Sanguino, faculty members of DEEC, as well as representatives from both universities, including Professors Pedro Silva Girão and João Peixoto.

Duan Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai University, highlighted the students’ ability for critical thinking developed throughout the programme, emphasizing its importance as a key tool in a world undergoing constant technological evolution, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.
Next, João Peixoto congratulated the newly graduated students. He praised their courage in choosing this programme, which provides an intercultural exchange experience, and also expressed his appreciation for the support of the faculty involved. The Vice-Rector of the University of Lisbon wished the graduates continued success in achieving the best possible outcomes in the future.
