Escola Secundária de Camarate visits DEEC
On November 12th, the 11th and 12th-grade students from Camarate Secondary School visited the Electricity Pavilion at the Técnico campus in Alameda. Professor João Fernandes (from the energy scientific area) introduced the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, starting the visit.
The students were divided into two groups and visited the Energy and Sustainability module and the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics module.
The Energy and Sustainability module was also presented by Professor João Fernandes, who showed the students examples of mechanisms used in electric mobility. Experiments were conducted with electromagnetic induction and superconductors, which are used in the construction of high-speed magnetic levitation trains.
The Artificial Intelligence and Robotics module was presented by Bárbara Teixeira and some students from the field. During this module, the students learned about the work developed by the Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR) and participated in a simulation where they were welcomed to a party by a humanoid robot, capable of moving around the space and introducing guests to the host.
The visit ended with a group photo taken at the entrance of the building, along with an invitation for more visits to DEEC.
