Every year, Stanford University, in partnership with the Elsevier publishing group, publishes a list of the 200,000 most-cited scientists worldwide — representing approximately the top 2% most influential members of the scientific community. Mário Figueiredo, a researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, was recognized in the national top 10 for career citations. José Bioucas Dias was also highlighted in this category, ranking among the national top 10 most-cited researchers.
