EngiRank places the University of Lisbon as the best Engineering School in the country

The second edition of the European Ranking of Engineering Programs (EngiRank) ranked the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) as the leader of the general Portuguese ranking, and also placed it among the top 50 institutions in Europe. Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering were included in the same category, alongside Information Engineering, in the ranking by subject, securing the 46th place.

The ranking, promoted by the Polish "Perspektywy" Education Foundation, is divided into two parts: the general ranking and the by subject ranking. In the second part, scientific areas are evaluated based on parameters that result in scores, including publications, citations, accreditations, academic-industry collaborations, publications in the Top 10% Journals, impact change, and investment in research and innovation. Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Computer Engineering received a final score of 68.67. Other areas were also highlighted: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.

This ranking analyzes the performance of engineering schools or those with a strong focus on teaching and research in this field, with geographical coverage limited to the European Union, Switzerland, and Norway. EngiRank is multidimensional, evaluating contributions such as research, innovation, internationalization, and teaching quality, using data entirely sourced from public sources. It relies on SCOPUS (for research and sustainable development indicators), CORDIS (for project information), and European databases on course accreditation by quality assurance agencies.
