On July 30, student João Pedro Santos de Carvalho successfully defended his thesis entitled “Data Imputation and Robust Clustering via Subspace-Based Methods”, under the supervision of Professor Manuel Ricardo de Almeida Rodrigues Marques, faculty member at DEEC. He was awarded the PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The defense took place in room C13, in the Central Pavilion of IST, on the Alameda campus.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Luís Miguel Teixeira D'Avila Pinto da Silveira, Full Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Técnico, and included Professor Gustavo Henrique Carneiro, Professor (equivalent to Full Professor) at the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences of the University of Surrey, United Kingdom; Professor Ana Isabel Couto Neto da Silva Miranda, Full Professor at the University of Aveiro; Professor Pedro Manuel Quintas Aguiar, Associate Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon; Professor Patrícia de Carvalho Baptista, Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon; and Professor Manuel Ricardo de Almeida Rodrigues Marques, Assistant Researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.
