Agrupamento de Escolas Amadora Oeste visits DEEC

On October 27, we welcomed students from the Amadora Oeste School Group. The students had the opportunity to learn about the research and intervention areas, degree programs, and some alumni of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, through an introductory presentation given by Pedro Tomás. The professor also discussed some of the extracurricular activities that students can take part in as Técnico students.

Afterwards, they visited the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics and Networks and Computers modules.

In the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics module, Professor Alberto Vale introduced some key concepts of the field, addressing current solutions to the challenges of a constantly evolving society.

In the Networks and Computers module, Professor Paulo Pereira demonstrated how the Internet of Things works by connecting a sensor to an application. When the system detected the presence of nearby objects, it emitted a sound signal.

The visit ended with a group photo at the north tower.
