Colégio Moderno visit us again
On March 26th, we welcomed more than 40 students from Colégio Moderno. The students got to know the educational offerings, extracurricular activities, and some of the professional opportunities available from the courses in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC). The department presentation was given by Professor Pedro Tomás, who also provided an overview of the courses and faculty in an international context.
The students then visited the Electronic Systems and Multimedia and Telecommunications modules.
The first module was presented by Professor Pedro Tomás, alongside Professor Sérgio Pequito. They discussed not only the importance of electronics but also the role of innovation and technology in today’s world, emphasizing the development of solutions for emerging needs over time.
The second module was presented by Professor Custódio Peixeiro, who covered some of the history of electromagnetic wave study. Starting with the contributions of figures like Morse, the professor also demonstrated how these waves propagate through the air, applying Snell-Descartes’ laws.
The visit concluded with a photograph at the entrance of the North Tower and an invitation for future visits.
