Ensiguarda came to learn about superconductors

On May 5th, more than 30 students from Ensiguarda visited the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The visit began with a presentation of the DEEC by Daniela Leonardo, who spoke briefly about the areas of work of the department’s researchers, students, and alumni. She also discussed the available degree programs and specializations, as well as some of the extracurricular activities that students can take part in.

After the presentation, the students visited the Energy and Sustainability module and the Multimedia and Telecommunications module.

In the first module, the students observed experiments with superconductors, including magnetic levitation of materials, a technology used in the construction of high-speed trains.

In Multimedia and Telecommunications, they visited the quantum photonics laboratory of the Institute of Telecommunications, where researchers are currently developing solutions for secure quantum communication.

The afternoon ended with a group photo at the entrance of the building and an invitation for future visits to the DEEC.
