Projects SculptingAI and Embedded AI reach the final of Lab2Market@Técnico 2026

On June 24 at 3:00 PM, the Técnico Innovation Center will host the final event of Lab2Market@Técnico 2026. This initiative aims to empower teams of students, researchers, and faculty members to transform their technological solutions, developed in an academic context, into sustainable, market-oriented business models. The programme is promoted by Técnico in collaboration with NTT Data and i-Deals.

The final event will feature project presentations and the awarding of the António Brandão de Vasconcelos Prize, worth €5,000. Among the selected projects in this edition are two developed by DEEC students:

  • SculptingAI, developed by Sara Monteiro, Athanasios Vourvopoulos, and Daniel McName, combines virtual reality and physical interaction in a digital clay sculpting game, with potential applications as a playful learning tool and in the analysis of motor and cognitive impairments;
  • Embedded AI, developed by João Lopes and Carolina Tilley, runs machine learning algorithms on low-power, low-cost systems, enabling the use of AI in more accessible devices.

The jury includes Luís Caldas de Oliveira, DEEC faculty member; Pedro Fonseca, representative of NTT Data; Teresa Fiúza, executive board member of Banco Português de Fomento; and a representative of António Brandão Vasconcelos, founder of NTT Data.

Admission to the event is free.
